As ongoing Gold sponsors of LGITSA (Local Government Information Technology South Australia), we were excited to again attend the annual conference, to catch up not only with many of our contacts in local councils, but to learn and discuss the current and future trends affecting the industry.
This year’s conference theme ‘Next Generation; Who’s Driving You There’, featured presentations and break out sessions addressing current technology concerns, issues and opportunities affecting local government.
The Keynote Presentation – The Mobility Revolution – was presented by Steve Sammartino, Australian Futurist, Author and Technologist, and addressed how distributed technology, people, ideas and intelligence are changing the world and how to thrive in it.
Steve Sammartino has been involved in numerous projects, including a driveable car built out of Lego and a Lego Space Shuttle he sent into space! Steve is Australia’s most respected futurist and media commentator on emerging technology, and provided a dynamic presentation.
Other sessions covered topics including:
- Digital Transformation
- Building Resiliency: Data Breach Management Using NDB Principles – Best Practice vs Actual Practice
- ePlanning and the Planning Reforms
- What Does Smart Mean for Human Habitation
- Electronic Signatures – Finding the Balance Between Efficiency, Compliance and Luddites
Our expo stand once again featured the popular pinball machine. Congratulations to Tom from Adelaide Hills Council who took out the highest prize score.
A key highlight of the conference was the 2018 Awards Gala Dinner, recognising and rewarding excellence in Information Technology and Information Management across Local Government Councils.
Congratulations to the 2018 winners!
